In Part 1, we mentioned a list of outstanding BL films/series from across Asia – Thai, Korean, Japanese, and Chinese productions, including The Love of Siam, Night Flight, Lan Yu, Present Perfect, A Touch of Fever, Like Grains of Sand, SOTUS, HIStory, Love by Chance and many others.
As to why a movie or series is of quality? One of the primary reasons is always to do with the story itself – and the fact that it should be engaging. What about the other factors that make them great?
When it was first announced that He’s Coming to Me will only have 8 episodes, I was a bit skeptical that it will have a satisfying ending. That’s my experience with some Japanese drama series. However, the ghost-romantic-mystery drama starring Singto and Ohm prove me wrong. At more than one hour, Episode 8 was able to give the audience a much-needed closure. That is, in addition to some intense, confrontation scenes and also some romantic, comedic scenes as well. Continue reading “He’s Coming to Me – เขามาเชงเม้งข้างๆหลุมผมครับ Episode 8 (End) [Review]”
When the casting news for He’s Coming to Me was announced, I am already excited! Ohm Pawat (second lead in Make It Right)and Singto Prachaya (acclaimed actor in SOTUS) are both amazing, to begin with. I also am personally biased toward them.
SOTUS S: The Series and one of its lead actors, Singto Prachaya, were big winners at the recent 15th Kom Chad Luek Awards.
Thailand’s The Nation was quoted:
Voted by the public, singer Palitchoke “Peck” Ayanaputra won Popular Artist, Prachaya “Singto” Ruangroj was Most Popular Actor, Ranee “Bella” Campen Most Popular Actress, Kong Huayrai for Most Popular Lukthung Male Artist, and Tai Orathai for Most Popular Lukthung Female Artist. “Nakee” won Most Popular Movie and “Sotus S The Series” was Most Popular Series. SOTUS S (2017), is the follow-up to SOTUS (2016) featuring the romantic relationship and struggles of Arthit (Krist) and Kongpob (Singto), a senior and lead hazer and his junior in an Engineering school in Thailand.
Singto (who plays Kongpob) is particularly effective in his role as an independent-minded junior student who is regarded by his peers as the leader. He fell in love with Arthit, though their relationship was rocky from the start.
SOTUS S is the series that follows their relationship after the end of the initial TV drama:
Fast forward 2 years later, Kongpob is now the head hazer in his faculty, while Arthit works at the Ocean Electric Company, During Kongpob’s final year, he needs to find an internship company, and requests to work alongside with Arthit over his family’s company, which unbeknownst to Arthit. After an outing with the company, tensions rise between the 2, and both will have to decide their future. Will Arthit and Kongpob remain as a couple?
The previous teaser trailer did not give justice to the upcoming TV series He’s Coming to Me, in as much as the latest one. But still, the impact of seeing Singto Prachaya Ruangroj and Ohm Pawat Chittsawangdee together is more than what many could bear.
The initial animosity between a third-year and head hazer Arthit (Krist Perawat Sangpotirat) and his junior Kongpop (Singto Prachaya Ruangroj) has turned into something so romantic and so passionate that many Thai BL couples try so desperately to copy and emulate. Such is the effect of the SOTUS couple that their audience has reached far and wide.
