Much credit to the ingenious mind of one Khun Salil when the author transformed a rather obscure, very scientific term Absolute Zero – with no romantic or relational definition – into something associated with the heart and its various terms of endearment and failings. Recent reports suggest that Studio Wabi-Sabi (Love by Chance, UWMA Series) has acquired the rights to turn the novel into a live-action adaptation.Continue reading “Absolute Zero – องศาสูญ The Series (2021)”
So WhyRU the Series just dropped us a monumental finale a few days ago. Until now, I am still “moving on” from those kisses that essentially redefined how I will judge BL kisses going forward. To say that it froze me while watching it is a complete understatement; to say that it unnerved me is a complete fallacy; to say that it astonished me is right on target! However, looking back at my personal journey with WhyRU the Series is currently giving me a bittersweet kick in the gut.Continue reading “Of Boys & Men | The WhyRU the Series Experience [Opinion]”
My WhyRU journey brought me to discover new friendships that I hope will last a lifetime. It’s especially memorable for a good number of reasons. Unlike a blog where emotions and personal views are often fully expressed, I try to keep this drama profile as objective as possible. Now that Why RU the Series has ended, browse into our collection of events featuring the cast of this notable BL series!Continue reading “Why RU: The Series – เพราะรักใช่ป่าว (2020)”
How to review a BL series amidst the noise? In the case of WhyRU, it’s as simple as what you see is what you get. Nowadays, with fan service being the norm – it’s a little bit harder not to join in the fun. But the critical standard remains the same, and what are those criteria?Continue reading “Why RU: The Series – เพราะรักใช่ป่าว Episode 10-13 [Review]”

At this point, viewers are familiar with WhyRU main couples’ dynamics. Tutor-Fighter (Saint and Zee) is more of a love-hate relationship with plenty of angst.Continue reading “Why RU: The Series – เพราะรักใช่ป่าว Episode 8-9 [Review]”

In Part 1, we mentioned a list of outstanding BL films/series from across Asia – Thai, Korean, Japanese, and Chinese productions, including The Love of Siam, Night Flight, Lan Yu, Present Perfect, A Touch of Fever, Like Grains of Sand, SOTUS, HIStory, Love by Chance and many others.
As to why a movie or series is of quality? One of the primary reasons is always to do with the story itself – and the fact that it should be engaging. What about the other factors that make them great?Continue reading “What Makes a Good BL Drama or Film (Under a Thai/Asian Setting)? Part 2/2 [Opinion]”
Episode 7 of WhyRU is an acting highlight for Saint Suppapong as he says goodbye to his sister who has supported him throughout his young and eventful life. Zee’s Fighter kept himself in the sideline amidst Tutor’s emotional turmoils. Yet at the end of the episode, he upped the ante for their growing intimacy.
In celebration of PsychoMilk’s 5th year, I’m doing a day-to-day, blow-by-blow account of why Saint Suppapong is a BL phenomenon. I know he will be celebrated by a wider audience sooner than later.
And I have always wanted to chronicle his rise and rise since 2018.
Let me start my review by a quote:
Lie through your teeth – Today, it means to lie through a smile – easily and unashamed. But its origins go back to the 14th century, when the phrase was to “lie in your teeth” referring both to the liar’s teeth, and the teeth of the person being lied to. The meaning was similar to today’s phrase of “lying in your face.”
In the case of WhyRU episode 6, its lying through your kiss as Zee’s Tutor kept on repeating himself that all the concern and shower of affection for Saint’s Tutor are nothing but “tease”.
Episode 5 of WhyRU the Series represents a subtle departure from previous episodes as far as relationship development. Both our main couples – Zon-Saifah, Tutor-Fighter seem to have reached a turning point – perhaps its best to call it a point of no return. Gun Atthaphan, 26, was in the news to have gone to a police precinct to report an online threat. This is an example of a direct assault to one of the Thai BL community’s most recognized and award-winning actors.
Let’s trace back a bit of history… Continue reading “BL Actors Under Threat: Documenting the Hate [Report]”
Episode 4 of WhyRU The Series represents one-third of the whole, which means we have 8 more episodes to go. Episode 1 is not to my liking, yet I immediately sense a transition and the original intent of the filmmakers to offer something unique and unpredictable yet in a way – relatable. I’m in the opinion that the remaining episodes will feature delectable, juicy, intense and revealing details that will define this BL drama.
A kiss is not just a kiss. In Episode 3 of Why RU the Series, it is symbolic of the many aspects of a burgeoning intimacy between our two main couples.
