Still 2Gether – เพราะเราคู่กัน (2020)

Months after 2Gether the Series ended, most of the BL fans have now moved to make memes or are still raging about the way Sarawat & Tine high-fived (sigh! I seriously was not expecting that from the showrunners) to show their love for each other in the last episode. While many of us were already upset with the last-minute, and convoluted plot twists, the last episode totally crushed all the hopes of seeing even a little intimacy between the boyfriends. (quite a fair request, right?) But even with that outrage, you simply cannot ignore the numbers of views this series received and the way it ruled worldwide trends on Twitter for hours after it premiered on Friday nights.

2Gether The Series – Episode 11-12 [Review]

Before what may appear to be a bittersweet ending to 2Gether The Series, the two previous episodes: Episode 11-12 – in my opinion – wasted a big opportunity on focus and priority. Instead of showing Sarawat and Tine growing in terms of intimacy and ‘togetherness’, the production team, and dir. P’Champ, in particular, decided to go the rivalry route. Not that it’s a complete disaster – using jealousy and creating emotional impact is a tried and tested formula for drama series.

2Gether The Series – เพราะเราคู่กัน (2020) – Episode 10 [Review]

I only have a minor complaint about 2Gether, and everything else is more than A-okay for me. You see, this series is the kind of BL that can feature twists and turns and still focus on the main characters without skipping a beat. Episode 10 showcases a highly-strung Tine, portrayed with surprising believability and confidence by Win Metawin. Here is an example of how a director can properly guide a greenhorn and bring out the best in his performance.

Metawin Opas-iamkajorn (เมธวินโอภาสเอี่ยมขจร) also known as Win, was born February 21st, 1999, and is a Thai actor. He became increasingly popular for his role as Tine in GMM-tv 2gether The Series, where he stars as Bright Vachirawit (Sarawat’s) love interest. This series is his first acting project to date.

Notwithstanding the real-world reality of social distancing and abject poverty, people – young and old – took refuge from the Internet and anointed what previously was an obscure, even taboo genre – Boys Love. Gone are the days when young girls (and gay boys) hide their cellphones while watching the latest episode of SOTUS, Love by Chance, (more recently even TharnType) or the earlier greats like Love of Siam. Dir. Champ Weerachit has been at the helm of GMM-tv shows since 2016 with the Senior Secret Love series along with Gun-Off’s Puppy Honey. He also directed Social Death Vote and Kiss Me Again. Such credentials pave the way for the live-action adaptation of 2Gether The Series – his most successful show to date, amongst these many hits. P’Champ, as he is fondly called by fans, is competitive and competent, and here he’s been able to adapt the best from previous BL series into a cohesive, full-on BL show that hits all the right spots.

2Gether the Series puts the spotlight on Bright Vachirawit and newcomer Win Metawin!

One thing I love about the live-action 2gether the Series is how GMM-tv keeps on changing the story line, as compared to its original source. There are of course, scenes that are de rigueur, to keep the plot reasonable and free-flowing. It makes people forget about assumptions and gets them tuned in and turned on by the twists and turns. This coming Friday, Episode 6 is to air. (This article was posted previously) Even halfway through the series, its lead stars are grabbing plenty of the spotlight themselves while the series gets millions of views from fans.

2Gether The Series – Episode 5 [Review]

I enjoy this series – in a major way – because Bright and Win have so much onscreen chemistry. If you want a ‘symbolic’ comparison, then there is no better example than honey and lemon.

From the premier episode until Episode 5, their characters have grown convincingly. Originally, it was Tine who was desperate to secure Sarawat’s “friendship”, but it soon reverses. Sarawat now appears in total pursuit.
