Motor Cycle: The Series – วุ่นรักนักบิด (2020)

The bad boy image in BL is one theme that is hard to match – there is just something alluring about being bad for the sake of it. Now comes a new BL drama entitled Motor Cycle: The Series. For me, it sounds like sex, boys, rock & roll, and motorbikes of course! The series is slated for a May 2020 release.

2Gether The Series – เพราะเราคู่กัน (2020) – Episode 10 [Review]

I only have a minor complaint about 2Gether, and everything else is more than A-okay for me. You see, this series is the kind of BL that can feature twists and turns and still focus on the main characters without skipping a beat. Episode 10 showcases a highly-strung Tine, portrayed with surprising believability and confidence by Win Metawin. Here is an example of how a director can properly guide a greenhorn and bring out the best in his performance.

Why RU: The Series – เพราะรักใช่ป่าว Episode 10-13 [Review]

How to review a BL series amidst the noise? In the case of WhyRU, it’s as simple as what you see is what you get. Nowadays, with fan service being the norm – it’s a little bit harder not to join in the fun. But the critical standard remains the same, and what are those criteria?

Where Your Eyes Linger – 너의시선이머무는곳에 (2020)

Finally, the South Koreans join the current Boys Love craze that originated in Japan and has been deconstructed and re-designed by the Thais. Entitled Where Your Eyes Linger, it’s already making waves for its poignant and unique storyline.

Most publications that announced the new BL – of 8 episodes to premiere on May 2020 – fail to mention that award-winning Korean filmmaker Lee Song Hee-Il has already wowed the international audience with his gay trilogy back in 2006. There is actually no “breaking the stigma” because it has been broken already. It’s just a matter of reinforcement. Anyway, let us put more perspective into this new BL after the jump!

2Gether The Series – Episode 8-9 [Review]

Notwithstanding the real-world reality of social distancing and abject poverty, people – young and old – took refuge from the Internet and anointed what previously was an obscure, even taboo genre – Boys Love. Gone are the days when young girls (and gay boys) hide their cellphones while watching the latest episode of SOTUS, Love by Chance, (more recently even TharnType) or the earlier greats like Love of Siam. Taking advantage of this surge in BL popularity is 2Gether The Series from GMMtv, the undisputed heavyweight BL network in Thailand.

There is a certain star quality about Enzo Santiago. On Twitter during their Q&A, how he replies to questions about his BL series, My Extraordinary, is spontaneous and honest.
